Hot Tubs Mijas – Spain

May 11th, 2010

Why do some Hot Tub manufacturers inject their spa with full foam? Ask them as it could and is, often simply, covering a cheaper form of construction.

So simply ask the sales man or sales women why do they inject their Hot Tub Jacuzzi Spa with full foam?

I have heard it said that all the pipes are covered so as to keep the noise down – have you ever heard such a stupid statement – what noise – it must be a very badly designed and cheaply produced spa if they have to do that – the truth is that they start with the cheapest way to make a spa as they don’t use a quality acrylic like Lucite ™ and you ask yourself the question as to why not – its simple – Lucite ™ costs 4 times as much as what they use.

The worlds leading Hot Tubs are made using Lucite ™ or Quarite ™ if it doesn’t have a shell made out of a sheet of either Lucite ™ or Quarite ™ then I think you need to question how well the spa is made internally. It may be cleverly packaged but just because the wrapping paper is good it does not mean that the contents of the box of chocolates’ are any good.

When they say it is filled with foam then you can’t see where the pipes go so if there is a leak it is impossible to find and it might be showing some inherent weakness in the shell in that it needs the foam for strength, in any event, in my view it is an outdated manufacturing process.

One large maker of Spas has made a practice of selling cheap-to-make spas in an expensive presentation package, but the end user needs to know that they are made with an inferior shell material. This company fully foams their spas as structural support for the thinner and porous shell material (thus creating a service nightmare if there ever should be a leak somewhere). They also openly vent their cabinets which may lead to bug and rodent infestation that nestle inside the blown in insulation, and also by venting the cabinets they are loosing costly heat.

You can check the quality of these Hot Tub Shells by applying the lipstick test. Because Enderol and other similar low cost surfaces are actually porous (a great place for bacteria to manifest itself), they are also less resistant to staining which is why you would see a tile line around some of their spas. If you apply lipstick, they will have a hard time getting that off. On high grade Acrylic, since it is non-porous, it will simply wipe right off.

Next time you are thinking of buying a Hot Tub probe a little beneath the wrapping and presentation and don’t accept what is clearly the patter of a salesman but not that of someone who has a passion and a real knowledge for their products.

Costa del Sol Tourist Information

May 11th, 2010

With some superb beaches, first-class golf courses, beautiful marinas and superb climate, the Costa del Sol is one of Europe’s most popular holiday destinations. This 80-mile stretch of coastline contains a variety of resorts, including up market Marbella and Puerto Banus, family-friendly Fuengirola and Benalmadena, and lively Torremolinos.

The Costa del Sol used to refer to the entire stretch of coastline between Almeria and Cadiz, but these days the term applies to the coastal strip within Malaga province. Tourism began to take off here in during the 1950’s when Prince Alfonso von Hohenlohe opened the Marbella Club. This lavish holiday complex soon began to attract famous guests such as Sophia Loren, Gina Lollobrigida, and the Duke and Duchess of Windsor. Around the same time the coast’s first luxury hotel, the Pez Espada, opened in what was then the small fishing village of Torremolinos. More hotels would be added within the next decade and the Costa del Sol soon became known as a popular package holiday destination.

The area suffered a slight decline in the 1980’s, so the local government has invested a lot of money in recent years to bring things up to scratch. New marinas, seafront promenades and golf courses have been built, while the beaches have been cleaned up and improved.

The pretty resort of Nerja, known for its Balcon de Europa viewpoint and string of small coves, lies about 30 miles (50km) east of Malaga. Close to the town are the famous Nerja caves, discovered in the 1950’s and now one of the Costa del Sol’s top tourist attractions.

The three neighbouring resorts of Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola are situated to the west of Malaga. Torremolinos is well known for its popular nightclubs, while Benalmadena has a lovely marina and attractions such as the Tivoli World amusement park and cable car. The family friendly resort of Fuengirola boasts a small modern zoo, over four miles of sandy beaches, and a nearby water park.

A few miles inland from Fuengirola, in the foothills of the surrounding mountains, is the pretty town of Mijas Pueblo. Although it is sometimes overrun with tourists, Mijas has some notable sights including an interesting folk museum and an unusual square bullring. The views along the coast are pretty good too.

Further west along the coast from Fuengirola is the famous resort of Marbella and its neighbouring marina of Puerto Banus. In the centre of Marbella is the picturesque old town of whitewashed houses and pretty squares known as the Casco Antiguo. As well as its lovely beach, the resort is also known for its choice of up market boutiques and smart restaurants. Nearby Puerto Banus is a flashy modern marina complete with luxury yachts, trendy bars and posh shops.

The pleasant resort of Estepona, which still retains much of its original character, is situated to the west of Marbella. The town has several historic attractions, including the pretty church on Plaza del Reloj, plus a wide sandy beach and fishing port.

Malaga is the largest city and the main gateway to the Costa del Sol. Many budget airlines operate flights to Malaga Airport, including EasyJet, Ryanair and Monarch. There is a coastal railway line from the airport to the resorts of Torremolinos, Benalmadena and Fuengirola.

A Golfer’s Guide To Hotel Las Piramides & The Costa Del Sol

May 11th, 2010

The fact that the Costa del Sol is also known as the Costa del Golf is a pretty good indication that this part of Spain is indeed a golfer’s paradise. Boasting over 60 golf courses, the region offers year round playability and is ideal for both casual and serious golfers. It helps to find a central place to stay in from which to visit the different courses and Hotel Las Piramides in Fuengirola is just such an accommodation option.

Situated right by the seaside, this beachfront hotel is only about 500 metres from the town centre and makes a great base from which to begin a tour of the Costa del Sol golf courses. Since there are numerous golfing options within a 50 kilometre radius of Fuengirola, the town is a popular destination amongst golfers who are indeed spoilt for choice.

Guests staying at the Las Piramides Hotel Costa del Sol can begin their golfing holiday by heading to the Cabopino Golf Club which is only around 15 minutes from Fuengirola. This picturesque 18-hole course (par 71) has been designed with the surrounding scenery in mind and is set amidst some truly stunning natural landscapes. The 3rd hole is quite spectacular, while the 5th hole with its narrow fairway will put ones skills to the test.

Designed by Robert Trent Jones, Mijas Golf is located north of Fuengirola and is home to two immensely sought after courses on the Costa del Sol. Surrounded by the scenery of the Valley of Mijas, the 18-hole Los Lagos course (par 71) is particularly large and offers relatively easy playing conditions. The club’s Los Olivos course may be shorter in length, but poses more of a challenge along its 18-holes (par 72).

Hotel Las Piramides in Costa del Sol can also be used as a base to visit the Alhaurin Golf Club which enjoys a breathtaking location amidst the Mijas Mountains. The 18-hole course (par 72) has been designed by Spanish golfing great Seve Ballesteros and makes golfers drive, putt and chip their way out of trouble around scenic fairways, tricky bunkers and problematic water hazards!

Home to the Campo America (par 73), Campo Europa (par 71) and Campo Asia (par 71) 18-hole courses, the La Cala Golf Course stakes its claim as being the largest golf complex in Spain. Playing at these three courses is no walk in the park and golfers will need a good handle on their game before taking them on. Those wanting to brush up on their skills can sign up at the onsite David Leadbetter Academy.

Other 18-hole courses that can be easily reached from Fuengirola include the Falco Nardi designed courses at Lauro Golf and Miraflores Golf Club, the family oriented Guadalhorce Golf Club, the El Chaparral Golf Course, Parador Golf and the Torrequebrada Golf Course which is one of the toughest courses in the region and rightly nicknamed “The Beast!”

Those returning to the Las Piramides Hotel Costa del Sol after a long round of golf can enjoy a leisurely swim at the onsite indoor or outdoor pools. Out of shape golfers can make use of the fitness centre, while meals are served at the Blue Restaurant and at the Noble Dinning Room. The hotel also has 2 convention lounges where business travellers can hold meetings before sealing the deal on the golf course! There is a piano bar and an Internet point here as well.

Since the hotel is by the beach, certain rooms have great sea views which are worth taking in both at the beginning and end of the day. Tired out golfers can make use of the individually controlled air conditioning in order to cool down, while these simple rooms also come with heating, satellite television and a direct dial phone.

Guests staying at Hotel Las Piramides Costa del Sol in Fuengirola are at a great advantage since they can easily access the region’s beaches as well as its breathtaking golf courses. Many of these courses are attractions in their own right and provide some truly unforgettable backdrops in which to enjoy a memorable golfing holiday in the Costa del Sol.

Costa Del Sol – Continued

Sun, beach and relaxation – improves your health

The Spaniards have 2-3 years longer life expectancy than the North Europeans. Whether it is the sun, siesta, red wine or olive oil it is hard to say. However some of the Scandinavian countries send patients to Spain for rehabilitation as experience has shown that it is easier to recover in the sun.

Your health enjoys Costa del Sol Asthma, arthritis and many other health related problems fare much better in the mild climate of Southern Spain. For many people this is the main reason for moving to Costa del Sol. The climate is mild with winter temperatures generally not lower than 10 degrees Celsius, and summer temperatures seldom higher than 35 degrees Celsius. On average you will find more than 300 sunny days, and less than 20 wet days per year.

Your free time on Costa del Sol Different clubs, sports or cultural activities are here to fill your free time. It can be playing bridge or golf, taking a hike in the mountains, attending concerts and much more. Several business clubs are available where people meet for networking and to exchange experiences.

Selection in the shops Due to the large international society on Costa del Sol, almost any local speciality from home is available, especially in the towns of Fuengirola and Mijas.

Children on Costa del Sol There are many International Schools on Costa del Sol, and local Spanish schools are also quite good. In any case, the children are always the first to learn the language!

NIE-number Foreign Identification Number (Número de Identificación de Extranjero) is required to buy a property in Spain. The original document must be presented to the notary when signing the Title Deed (escritura) so make sure you apply for your NIE number well ahead of time. The NIE number is issued by Policia National or at the Spanish embassy in your home country.

Buying a property on Costa del Sol Since the international property marked slowed down in 2005, the Spanish property marked has had a similar slow down. The properties on Costa del Sol follow the European marked, as most of the buyers are European. However Costa del Sol is unique in the way that buyers come from most of the Northern European countries, making the property market on Costa del Sol more robust.

Health insurance This is an important topic and you have to pay attention to the small print. Private health insurance is not that expensive in Spain, though it does depend on your medical condition and age. The public health system is excellent, however with a private insurance you have a choice of hospitals and doctors speaking your own language.

Many flight connections to Costa del Sol Costa del Sol is a popular destination and has been for many years. Prices are low, and if you can order well ahead of departure, you might find that the prices are so low that it makes transport and parking at home more expensive than the flight itself. Flight connections are available from almost any airport in the United Kingdom and Ireland, and also all other major cities in Northern Europe are well connected to the Costa del Sol. Most people fly in to Malaga, however Gibraltar can be quicker if you live in Estepona or Sotogrande in the far west of Costa del Sol. Granada may also be another option for those visiting Almuñécár or La Herradura in the far eastern parts

A Five-step Guide To Buying Costa Del Sol Property

May 11th, 2010

The Costa Del Sol has been at the forefront of Spanish property development for many years, and demand is still as high today as it ever was. Prices for property in the region are high, and luxury town houses in particular continue to be built to satisfy demand for Costa Del Sol property. Exceptional properties sell very quickly particularly as the demand for them is international and not just from the Spanish home market. So to give you a better chance at finding the perfect Costa Del Sol property, here we give you five tips to buying real estate in this stunning part of Spain.

Don’t underestimate the risk

Not a negative, but a positive. Costa Del Sol property is not cheap, so going in to the market armed with as much information as possible will give you a better chance at finding a deal. A major transaction such as property purchase can’t be done over the phone and Internet, so make as many visits to the region as you can to really get to know the place, the people and to find yourself an agent whom you both like and trust. They will be your representative and guide throughout the process, so that initial contact is vital to ensure that they have your best interests at heart and that you’re happy with the service they offer.

What do you want your property to do for you?

Consider if your property is an investment (perhaps something you buy to let), a holiday home or even a permanent residence if you are planning to relocate to Spain. If your home is for financial investment then you will want the maximum return for your initial outlay, so a property that will be desirable to those looking for a holiday location is important. However, if you are permanently relocating you will need a property that ticks your own, personal ‘boxes’ and is close to your source of work or to major transport links for easy access to central locations. Use will determine both location and the type of property you are looking for, which in turn will determine your price range.

Spanish Law

Spanish property law is very different from UK law, so knowing how to deal with all the paperwork and negotiating your way through the system is going to take expert knowledge. It is essential that you use an independent Spanish solicitor to undertake all searches and conveyancing for you, so look for one who is local to the area and will know of any particular regulations covering property purchasing that may affect you. Personal recommendations are always the best, but if not a search of the Internet will give you a list of names to start with.

Talk to others

The Costa Del Sol has a very large ex-patriot community, so talking to others who have already made the move can be a particularly good way of getting information and advice direct from those who have experienced the process first hand. It also gives you the chance to find out additional information, for example school and medical facilities if you are moving permanently to the region, what unexpected problems people have encountered and how they have overcome them and how to deal with the Spanish authorities when it comes to purchasing property.

Hot Spots

The most popular resorts in the Costa Del Sol are Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Torremolinos, Marbella, Mijas and Nerja. These are also very busy tourist resorts, so if you are looking to live within a large, ex-pat community then these areas may be the best spots to consider. However, property prices in these resorts are at a premium as they are highly desirable to buyers from all over the world. If you’re prepared to look at areas that are perhaps not as developed as these, you may find Costa Del Sol property prices that are a little more affordable outside these hot spots. Obviously, properties with ocean views command the highest prices, so villas and houses that are a little further inland will also be much more affordable than ocean-front properties in major resorts.

Move quickly

In recent years, many more Spanish customers have started buying property on the Costa Del Sol, so competition for property has become fierce, especially in new developments and property hot spots. If you do find the perfect property you will need to make sure that everything proceeds as quickly as possible to secure the deal, so ensure that deposits are paid on time, paperwork is signed and all deadlines are strictly adhered to. The old ‘manyana’ or ‘do it tomorrow’ attitude is a thing of the past in Spain so once again, the services of an expert agent who is fluent in both the language and the system will ensure that the process goes smoothly.

Boost Your Spain Property Rental Profits with Viral Marketing

May 11th, 2010

If you are pressed for time and tenants, you’ll want to read this! Property rentals can be very lucrative if you know how to market to your potential guests. Whether it’s an apartment for rent, villa rental for vacationers, or a golf holiday rental, you can boost profits with these simple marketing strategies.

Maximize Holiday Rental Promotions Online

Don’t ignore the tremendous power of the Internet. Imagine spending a mere $5 to $15 per month to advertise your Spain property rental to folks around the world 24 hours a day, 7 days a week! That’s exactly what you’re doing when you start your own website that is focused on property rental.

For only a few dollars per month, you can have an entire website dedicated to promoting your apartment for rent or vacation villa rental. You can put as many photos and updates as you want. There are no limits because you will be the owner! You can even offer online specials and discounts to Internet users.

To make your website really popular with the search engines, include travel articles and city information about nearby areas. For example, if you own a rental property in Marbella, Spain you can write content about that area and include keywords about traveling to Marbella. The same goes for other Spain holiday hot spots including Costa del Sol, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Puerto Banus, and Elviria. Tourists will be searching online for a place to stay. Yours can be the one they choose!

Promote for Events and Recreation

If you have a vacation rental that’s near a major tourist or sports attraction or where major events take place, then focus some of your marketing around the attraction or the event. For example, if your rental property is near a popular golf course in Spain where major tournaments are held, you can advertise in golf-focused magazines, golf-related stores, or golf web sites. This enables you to reach a targeted audience.

Don’t Forget Past Guests

A guest who rented from you once may visit again. You will have all the mailing addresses or email of your guests, so send a mailing out occasionally inviting them to stay once more. Offer a “special” for past guests only. It’s much easier to sell to those who already know you than to find new customers.

Include All Features and Benefits in your Promotions

When promoting your rental property, be sure to include all the features and benefits of staying at your rental property. You should list all the items or appliances that are included with their rental for convenience. The more you tell, the more you’ll sell. Tourists want no surprises when it comes to a place to stay on their trip.

With these promotion techniques, you can reach a broader audience for your vacation rental property and watch your monthly profits grow!

They attend to electrical, plumbing, air conditioning, swimming pool, and appliance repairs. Property managers in Spain and Bulgaria do more than rent your property. They can also oversee building refurbishment and renovation, including interior and exterior remodeling. From small jobs like painting to major projects such as building additions, they make sure the work is completed on time, on budget, and to your satisfaction. They can arrange for the design and installation of kitchens, bathrooms, and swimming pools.

If you are considering buying a holiday rental property in Spain or Bulgaria but are concerned about how you will manage it, talk to a property management company that has both local presence and worldwide advertising. They can help you find the ideal property, furnish it, rent it, and maintain it. And when you come for your vacation, you will find your property in perfect shape so you can just relax and enjoy your gorgeous surroundings. With housing property prices in Bulgarian cities falling, now is the perfect time to purchase a holiday property and contract with a management company for rental services.

The Costa del Sol. The Premier Holiday Destination in Europe

May 11th, 2010

Since the 1960’s and the advent of package holidays the Costa del Sol has
always been one of the premier holiday destinations in Europe, and with
good reason. The weather is perfect, with little or no rain between
the beginning of June and the end of September. The beaches are long, clean and sandy
and the vast majority have the coverted blue flag award also, the
Mediterranean being practically tideless, you never have to worry about the tide being
out and bathing is relatively safe.

If this isn’t enough then there is also the excellent night life with bars
and clubs staying open until the early hours and a great choice of restaurants
up and down the coast. The Andalucian people are very friendly and obliging
and crime is relatively low.

Recent years have seen vast improvements in the infrastructure on the Costa del Sol with both the
road networks and Malaga airport being significantly improved. In addition
air routes into both Granada and Jerez now offer the visitor a greater
choice of flights and very reasonable rates.Gibraltar too has increased
their number of regular flights.

The type of holidays people are taking has changed in recent years with a shift away
from the more traditional package tours as more and more people appreciate
the flexibility of renting their own apartment or perhaps a villa with a private
pool. Many holiday makers are starting to explore the beautiful countryside
just a short drive from the Costa del Sol where they can enjoy the peace and quiet of
renting a country villa whilst at the sametime being able to easily
visit the beach.

In addition to lazing on the beach the Costa del Sol now has alot of other attractions
to offer visitors.Selwo Wild Life Park
near Estepona being just one. This is a super day out for all the family
not only entertaining but educational too. Likewise Selwo Marina is a superb
attraction at Benalmadena with the only Dolphinarium in Southern Spain.
At Torremolinos and Mijas Costa you will find 2 brilliant Aqua Parks,
with a vast array of slides and pools.

If you wish to take a more cultural outing then The Picasso Museum at Malaga
should be on your agenda or for plant lovers visit the The Botanical Gardens
also at Malaga or the Bonsai Museum at Marbella.

For the golfers of course there is an awe inspiring choice of excellent
golf courses of all different levels, some by the sea and some set in
stunning mountain scenery. New ones are regularly being constructed and as
a result many golfers return year after year to the Costa del Sol.

Another first on the Costa is Mijas Race Coursewhere evening meetings
are held weekly throughout the summer. In addition they hold many top clas concerts,
including such artists as Sir Elton John, Rod Stewart, UB 40 and Bryan Adams.
They don’t forget classical music lovers either, giving concerts by
world class orchestras.

One other attraction for the Costa del Sol is certainly not new but should
definitely be on your list of places to visit and that is Gibraltar. It is
of course steeped in history and has the only troop of wild monkeys in Europe.
The beautiful St. Michael’s caves are also well worth visiting and then
of course there is the tax free shopping.

So whilst the Costa del Sol is traditionally reknown for “sun, sea and sangria”
it has moved with the times and now has alot to offer the more discerning
holiday maker who wants more from his holiday than just these ever popular elements.

Golf Costa Del Sol, Spain (Mijas los lagos tips)

May 11th, 2010

Golf Costa Del Sol, Spain (Mijas los lagos tips)

Mijas Golf has two well established courses on the Costa del Sol, Los Lagos and Los Olivos. They are both very popular courses for locals and golfers on holiday and offer an enjoyable round with wider fairways than many other courses.

Los Lagos was designed by one of golf’s greatest designers who believed that every hole should be a hard par and an easy bogey. Trent Jones was one of the first course architects to use water as the ultimate hazard and he was a great champion of the concept ´heroic golf`, in which the player attempting a particularly difficult shot is faced with a clear risk/reward. In a career spanning seven decades, he designed courses all over the world from Spain to the States.

Los Lagos (the Lakes), lakes feature prominently on eight of the holes although the course has a very open feel as trees are sparse and there is only a little rough. Set on 150 acres of mainly flat land with views of the Sierra de Mijas Mountains, it has a wide variety of plants and trees ranging from jacaranda to the Araucalia Pines.

This is a great course to play and for more information on this course including tips on some of the holes please visit Mijas Golf Course

Hole 4 is a long par 4 with the big hitters carrying the bunker on the right; otherwise you want to be safe up the middle left as it’s a slight dog leg to the right.

Hole 8 is the longest par 3 at 200 meters and has water everywhere. Hit the green or short are your only choices.

Hole 11 is a shorter par 3, but again there is water surrounding the green. Sometimes there is a bit of wind so take a club extra is the best advice.

Hole 16 is a slight dogleg to the right so drive to the left of the fairway. Make sure you take enough club to the green as the front bunker catches a lot of second shots.

Mijas Golf Course is always a joy to play and a great place for some drinks and food after where the friendly staff always look after you.

If you wish to play this course then let Sungolfer help you

Always enjoy your golf.

Regards
Sungolfer.

The Feel Good Factor

May 11th, 2010

A sunny day makes us all feel good, the sun has a warm radiance, and gets us started for a new day, seeing the sun gives us the ‘feel good’ factor.

The sun is so good for us in many many ways, let’s take a look at a few ways in which the sun benefits us all.

The sun rays are proven to strengthen the immune system, it affects our moods, and can help in chronic or acute depression, that is why so many people get depressed in the cold and dark days of winter.

Sunlight gives us vitamin D with calcium absorption which helps grow strong bones, strengthens cardiovascular system, blood circulation is improved, and eases swollen joints in cases of arthritis.

This is great for our well being but the sun is a very powerful source and we still need to use every method available to protect ourselves and our families from harmful UV (ultraviolet) rays.

Overexposure to UV rays can cause sunburn, skin cancer, and cataracts, but the responsible person will protect themselves against the sun by simply using a sun barrier.

Ultraviolet radiation is the single largest factor in the fading of soft goods, such as fabrics, carpets, other furnishings, and even furniture. The good news is we can all protect our homes with the installation of colourful awnings, in vibrant materials that can coordinate with your patio furniture.

Finnegans based on the Costa del Sol, supplying the total solution to everything that will give you that ‘feel good’ factor in your home and garden, not only enhancing the curb appeal of your property but by installing some of their products will give your home painless ‘plastic surgery’.

Finnegans can install products to protect your house and enhance its beauty, such products as garden awnings and canopies that will work like an extension to your house, and can be used for barbecues and picnics in the garden, can provide shelter for your car, installed over windows and doors can protect your furniture and furnishings from the heat of the sun.

This established company will help and advise you on everything from glass curtains, mosquito screens, windows, and you can be sure of a professional service at very competitive prices. The company covers Fuengirola, Marbella, Mijas Costa, and Riviera del Sol, and all materials and workmanship is guaranteed.

We all love the sun and by installing in our homes products that can ensure cool, comfortable surroundings we can all enjoy the ‘feel good’ factor without exposing ourselves and our homes to the damage the searing sun can do.
